Puppy Kindergarten

Puppy classes get your new puppy (8-14 weeks) started off on the right paw.  Your puppy starts positive socialization and you learn how to deal with many puppy problems like chewing on you, housebreaking, accepting you as leader, etc.  You will start learning how to train and care for your puppy.

Obedience Dog Training 101

(much more than a basic class)

This is the class where you get control of your dog and learn to teach him/her some of the basic commands, stretching moves, and agility obstacles.  You can learn voice and hand signals for formal and informal commands.  Instructors use a problem-solving approach and provide information on canine psychology, health care, and solutions to problems.  The AKC "Canine Good Citizen Test" (for mixed breeds and pure breeds) is administered at the last lesson. When you sign up for this class you have a Lifetime Membership for training the dog that you bring through these classes.

Continued Education

There is no additional charge for this class when you complete 101. When you finish Obedience 101 you can begin in this class. This is a self-paced class which is oriented for AKC, UKC, AMBOR, and ASCA competition.   In here you will polish up the commands learned in 101 and learn advanced obedience commands such as retrieving.  You will begin to learn about obedience competition rules and ring procedures. You and your dog will learn more  agility obstacles and how to do multiple obstacles.

Obedience Competition

Once you begin entering trials, you can attend this class to start real detail work on the obedience exercises for Novice, Open, and Utility.  You will learn how to teach the advanced exercises like the directed retrieve,  directed jumping and scent discrimination to your dog.  You will learn more about the rules for competition.  Obedience competition is a great sport.

Conformation  Classes   (Handling Classes)

This is to prepare you and your dog for a conformation show ---a show for purebred, registered dogs to help select quality dogs for breeding.  You learn how to train your dog to show him/her in a conformation (breed) show.  You also learn how to present your dog to the judge.  Junior handlers can learn how to compete at a show.
